SARN UK Second AHRC-Funded Workshop at Cambridge

SARN UK Second AHRC-Funded Workshop at Cambridge

17 UK-based Syrian academics and artists met at Selwyn College, University of Cambridge, on Saturday, 26 October 2024, to showcase their collaborative research projects.

Divided into 7 interdisciplinary research clusters, the participants presented their preliminary ideas, aims, outputs and received and answered questions from the audience.

This workshop, ‘Routes into Collaboration’, was a follow-up from the first one, ‘Show & Tell’, which was also held at Cambridge on 24 May 2024.

Participants will be invited to contribute papers to SARN UK’s first international conference, scheduled to be held at the University of Sussex on 18-19 September 2025.

Along with an online Symposium (scheduled for the Spring 2025), these 4 events are funded by an AHRC Research Networking Scheme that helped forge collaborative partnerships between SARN UK, BRISMES and the Syrian Arts and Culture Festival (SACF).

BRISMES Trustee and SARN UK’s AHRC PI, Dr Feras Alkabani, said “It’s great to see Syrian academics and artists coming together to collaborate on projects, which will ultimately translate their research and work into impact for the benefit of the wider Syrian community. It’s fantastic to have BRISMES as one of our stakeholders, enabling wider outreach and collaboration in the UK and beyond.”

The 17 SARN UK participants who took part in this workshop are: Feras Alkabani; Zeina Al Azmeh; Nerouz Satik; Rana Khalaf, Alaa Shasheet; Heidi S Affi; Oudai Tozan; Katya Alkhateeb; Roua Al Taweel; Sa’ad Choeb; Ghada Ezzo; Motasem Abuzaid; Leen Kayyali; Qusai Aljaradat; Reem Noureddin; Jeeda Alhakim; Yasser Al Zaiat.
