Job Opportunity | BRISMES Conference Coordinator
BRISMES seeks a part-time Conference Coordinator to provide administration for the 2025 BRISMES Annual Conference, which will take place at Newcastle University from 1 to 3 July. The Conference Coordinator will work closely with the BRISMES Manager and the Conference Committee. This job offers the opportunity to organise the largest and most prestigious annual UK gathering of scholars and practitioners focussed on the Middle East region. This is a part-time, paid position requiring between 8 and 20 hours a week depending on the period in the conference organising cycle and is offered on a temporary basis (May-July 2025).
The role involves curating the panels and the schedule for the conference, liaising with delegates and the host institution, coordinating the publishers' exhibition as well as overseeing the conference itself. In addition to allowing you to hone your organisational and event-planning skills, this position gives an insight into the inner workings of academic conferences, which is invaluable for ECRs looking to participate in future conferences. Please note that priority will be given to candidates who are students or alumni of Newcastle University.
