Nominees for the BRISMES Committee on Academic Freedom (2024-2027)

Lena Obermaier

I am a PhD candidate in Palestine Studies at the University of Exeter currently based in Munich, Germany. Here, I host a podcast on Palestine in German, give talks in different cities (meaning I am oftentimes directly affected by German laws), and have written on the German Staatsräson (see here or here). The reason why I want to join the committee is not just because of my personal experiences, but because of the messages I receive from many young Palestinian and students active on Palestine who are worried about racial profiling, academic freedom and freedom of assembly, and their careers in academia and beyond.
